SightScope intelligent photonic sensors incorporate Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)-based imaging to provide high-resolution, subsurface, non-invasive imaging with the ability to image up to 15 mm in depth and achieve less than 5 μm in depth resolution. Based on light, rather than sound or radio frequency, SightScope primarily uses the principle of low coherence interferometry to obtain depth information from light that is backscattered from a sample and can build clear 3D images of thick samples by rejecting background signals while collecting light directly reflected from surfaces of interest. By stacking scans in X and/or Y directions, two or three dimensional imaging is feasible.
