What is Data Privacy Day?

Data Privacy Day (Data Protection Day in Europe) is every January 28th across Canada, the U.S., and 27 countries in the EU, celebrating the first legally binding international treaty dealing with the protection of personal data, Convention 108, signed on January 28th, 1981. The aim of the day is to raise awareness to the importance of privacy and data protection.

Data Privacy Day (DPD) is sponsored in the United States by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) with the theme, Respecting Privacy, Safeguarding Data, and Enabling Trust.

The NCSA website will feature a live stream of the Data Privacy Day 2019 - Live from LinkedIn event, which includes discussion and presentations on the current opportunities, challenges and future of privacy.
